My Marrakech Experience

I finally made it to Marrakech, the city of inspiration. It was my very first time there and I already told myself the first day, that I will definetly come back here again. I have been wanting to go there for years and finally had the chance! It was such an incredible trip full of design inspiration, a nice dose of culture, shopping and delicious food.

I went there with the lovely Hsinwei Ho from _h2w_ . The taxi driver was waiting for us outside the Airport. We arranged the pickup through the hotel, belive me, it’s the best and easy way for you to get to your place. First stay was at the Ryad Dyor , an uber-chic Riad* in the heart of the Medina with a super friendly staff. We met the manager, Jacques Van Nieuwerburgh who was greeting us with a lovely welcome, explained and informed us about things we need to know, places to go and what to do in Marrakech. It was really helpful.

This place is a dream. We spent the day at the pool and enjoyed our time at panoramic roof terrace. The outdoor garden courtyard is so chic and relaxing, that we didn’t want to go out. I really fell in love with the architecture, textiles and design of this Riad.

Beside my passion for fashion, travelling is becoming more and more frequenting my line of work. Hotel stays are incorporated as an important part for my daily work as well. Who doesn’t love travel in style, right? I will make a post about our stays at the other two Riads soon. So remember to come back and check it out.

Most of the time we had the dinner at our Riads. We really didn’t have one bad meal in Marrakech.

But we also went to Nomad for dinner twice. We sat up on the rooftop overlooking the spice market and a beautiful sunset view. Make sure to have a reservation!!

Of course we went to Jardin Majorelle Garden and YSL Museum, but as it was on Sunday we were waiting on the queue almost 30mins to get the tickets.

After we got our tickets, we went to Majorelle Garden, which is the Cactus paradise. It was too busy that day, so after we took some pictures and walked around a bit, we left to YSL Museum, which is right the next door and had a great lunch at the Cafe’ there.

Our next stop was the Souk, an Arab market. The Old Medina was exactly what you would picture Marakesh to be like. With endless rows of shopping, excitement and product offerings. We bought few basket bags from the market, which is only €5-10 each.

Marrakech is a beautiful city with inspiration around every corner. I feel like I didn’t always get the best photo or the most picturesque snap to catch the beauty and atmosphere, but I hope this gives you a bit of insight on our trip. Best is of course you go there and check it out by yourself. I definitely cannot wait to return to this enchanting city.

See you next post!
